March 22nd - GrooveNation featuring Major Jackson|
E-mail

Esteemed poet,
Major Jackson, joins us for GrooveNation (finally!), where we celebrate the work of poets from the African Diaspora. This Cave Canem Poetry Prize winner and National Book Critics Award finalist writes the poems that make your whole world fresh again and he does it with impeccable form and style. Grab a copy of
Hoops or
Leaving Saturn and you'll see what we mean. We'll be doing a Q&A session with him after his reading so bring your best questions and your books for him to sign. He'll be reading poems from his new book,
Holding Company, due out later this year. If you are not a poet from the African Diaspora, please bring a poem your favorite Af-dia writer to share the open mic along with your own. Lynne Procope hosts.

Come one, come all to the last open slam of the season! In signing up for this slam, we will give priority to those who have at least 2 prior slams under their belt. Check the
rankings to see where you stand. Our feature for the evening is the bold, baudy, and brilliant
Jason Carney. A long time slam champion, Jason's poems are a delicious blend of humor and pathos, breakdown and redemption.
